About the Organization

About Us

Subhiksha Voluntary Organization (SVO) is a nonprofit organization established in 2009 in Telangana, India, dedicated to improving the lives of children and adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). Through our special education and rehabilitation services, we work to ensure that every person with a disability has the opportunity to learn, develop skills, participate in society, and live with dignity and greater independence.

Our Mission

Our mission is to empower abilities, enable independence, and promote an inclusive society where persons with disabilities have access to education, therapy, rehabilitation, life-skills development, and meaningful opportunities.

We believe that every individual has unique abilities and potential. Our approach focuses not only on education and therapy, but also on developing communication, self-care, social, vocational, and daily-living skills that help individuals participate more independently in family and community life.

What We Do

SVO operates a Special School and Rehabilitation Centre providing a range of integrated services for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including:

Special Education and individualized learning support
Early Intervention for children with developmental delays and disabilities
Physiotherapy
Speech and Language Therapy
Occupational Therapy
Music and recreational activities
Counselling and parental guidance
Life-skills and daily-living skills training
Pre-vocational and vocational skill development
Community outreach and awareness
Caregiver and family support
Sports and activities that encourage social participation

Our programs support individuals with conditions including Intellectual Disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Developmental Delay, Learning Disabilities, and Multiple Disabilities.

Our Approach

SVO follows an individual-centred approach in which educational and rehabilitation goals are adapted to each person's abilities, developmental needs, and family circumstances. We use individualized learning plans, functional education, therapy interventions, and practical life-skills training to help beneficiaries progress toward greater independence.

Our work is guided by the principles of dignity, inclusion, equal opportunity, participation, and independence. We seek to strengthen not only the individual but also the family and community support systems around them.

Our Impact

Over the years, SVO has worked with children, adults, families, and caregivers who often face barriers to education, therapy, rehabilitation, employment opportunities, and social participation.

Our impact extends beyond classroom learning. We help beneficiaries develop practical abilities such as communication, personal care, mobility, social interaction, functional academics, decision-making, and work-related skills. We also support parents and caregivers through counselling, guidance, and awareness so that learning and development can continue beyond the centre.

Our long-term goal is to help persons with disabilities move from dependence and exclusion toward greater participation, dignity, confidence, and independence.

Our Vision

We envision an inclusive society where every person with a disability is valued, supported, and provided with opportunities to reach their potential and live a dignified and meaningful life.

Looking Ahead

SVO aims to expand access to quality special education and rehabilitation services, strengthen early intervention, develop vocational and life-skills opportunities, improve community-based support, and reach more underserved families.

We are also working toward initiatives such as expanded day-care and residential support, mobile therapy and community outreach, and stronger partnerships with corporates, foundations, institutions, volunteers, and other organizations.

Together, we can create a future where every ability is recognized, every individual has an opportunity to grow, and every person can participate with dignity and independence.
